The Alois Tessitura
Serica Srl company belonging to Bernardo and Edda, Giovanni and
Marinella Alois’ children, is specialised in the production of
Fabrics for Interior Decoration; it is located in San Leucio di
Caserta (Italy), a centre which has become famous worldwide,
dating right back to the second half of the 1700s for the
sublime art of silk weaving.
The San Leucio site,
purchased in 1750 by Charles III of Bourbon and in which
Ferdinand IV wanted to establish the Royal Colony, is a small
urban centre that represents an ideal city (Ferdinandopolis) in
which to implement an innovative programme of social reforms,
therefore also introducing here the production of silk.
The characteristics of the San Leucio silk goods is that they
are specialised, following a company reorganisation process that
has brought the increase of the company size now exceeding that
of a craftsman’s workshop together with the adoption of modern
productive technologies, for the manufacturing of extremely high
quality silk fabrics for interior decoration purposes.
This particular
production can be considered a protected niche market destined
for an élite category of clients (large hotels, embassies etc.),
characterised by a high added value and by a positive growth
trend despite the slowdown in the silk industry.
